Boyne Library celebrates its 90th year April 2008.
The Boyne District Library celebrates a milestone anniversary in April 2008.  It has been 90 years since the grand opening of the brand new library in April 1918.  The first librarian Myrtle White, probably wouldn't recognize the place.  The library was originally given to the community by philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, who believed in the power of books and libraries.  Some 80 years later, it was renovated and expanded by another philanthropist who valued libraries, the Mary K. Peabody Foundation.  Boyne City has been exceptionally lucky.
